As a set of power transmission and distribution electrical equipment, the Ring Main Unit (RMU) plays a crucial and significant role in the power system. Similarly, The Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is also a key player in power systems. Unlike the RMU, which often uses air or SF6 - filled compartments in a more compartmentalized design, GIS fully encapsulates high - voltage components in a sealed, SF6 - filled enclosure. This design offers higher insulation levels and space efficiency, making it ideal for high - voltage and compact installations, such as in densely populated urban areas or large - scale power transformation projects. Components of the Ring Main Unit

  • Low-voltage Control Room (Interlocking Low-voltage Chamber): It also functions as a control panel. It can also be equipped with auxiliary contacts, trip coils, emergency tripping mechanisms, capacitive live display devices, key locks, and electric operating devices.
